Water Activities

From Kayaking , sailing, paddle boarding Powerboating and Rafting its all possible for our Young people

And not to mention swimming something our webbed-feet Scouts excel at !

We have 12 Kayaks

7 Pico Sailing Dinghies

4 Zests - from March 2021

3 Quests - from March 2021

An RS 200 - from March 2021

We also have

2 Ribs - power boats

2 Jaffa safety boats

and a Lightning sailing Dinghy


Not to mention lots of kit for fun and rafting etc !

And of course the required safety kit!


The Hengistbury Head Activity Centre is a RYA training centre , so with our suitably qualified leaders we are very able to provide the required training for the Young People gain RYA qualifications. Safety is our overriding concern. All our adults are trained. We have life jackets and helmets for all.

Swimming

During the winter months the group provide weekly swimming, free of charge to any Cubs, Scout or Explorers. This is held Friday evenings at the Bournemouth Collegiate School in Bournemouth.

We are pretty good at swimming; hence other Groups in Christchurch call us the “Webbed-Feet” Scouts.

As part of having RN recognition we can enter the national RN swimming Gala

In 2015 the Group won the “Otter Trophy” at HMS Raleigh, the last time the Group won this was in 1985
